Catch Up

Sorry my posts have been so sparse lately. It's not like I've been busy..the total opposite is true, actually. I am going to start with Lauren's 8th grade graduation.

So Lauren graduated this Thursday!! She looked so pretty! Her dress (which I helped her shop for lol) was a tealish color under a silver floaty material. She wore silver jewelry and had glam prom hair and makeup, done by the wonderful Mrs. Jostworth a.k.a. our down-the-street neighbor. Her shoes were gorg, but also super uncomfortable (silver high heels). I had to get a new dress for the occassion, seeing as my dresses were either too fancy or too casual. I got a cute yellow, green, blue, purple, and green splotchy dress (which Lauren hated; don't worry girl, I wasn't offended) which I had to wear a tank under because it was deep cut in the front and nonexistant in the back. I just wore a simple yellow necklace, tan T-strap sandals, and perfume.

The ceremony was very cute and sentimental. Also a bit cheesy, but hey, it has to be. The chors (all girls, of course) sang For Good from the musical wicked. It was a bit...rough..in places but overall beautiful. I sat next to Kelsey, Lauren's sister, who was nudging me and laughing the whole time, complaining about hom long it was taking. You might think Kelsey was, oh, I don't know, in 2nd grade, about. But no, Kelsey just graduated from highschool yesterday (You go, girl!!! You better be planning on telling me all about it! And you better have some pics of the dress!!) Lauren gave a speech since she was the salutatorian (the second highest grade-point average in her class) and it was really good. Well written and well delivered. Hers was the first speech, and there were many. The only part that was awful was, because it was a Catholic mass, communion. Since I'm not Catholic, I just had to sit in the pew with people climbing all over me. I wanted to shoot myseslf. Ah well, it wasn't all that bad and it's over now!

After the ceremony, Kelsey, their grandma, and their aunt Gabby, and I all went to Putz's. That might sound weird but keep in mind I know all of Lauren's family for the most part and they know me. So that was fun. And delish.

So I finally went to physical therapy with my mom. I went because everyone that comes to our house on Sunday nights (Stephen, Ron, Amanda, Margaret, and sometimes Megan) always talk about him. Some think he's gay, some things he's the best thing since Bare Minerals, but everyone except my dad agrees that he is definate eye candy. You guys know how I am, so I had to go scope out this guy for myself. I have come to decide that Nick the physical therapist in most definately not gay. But he IS pretty cute. He loved me, of course. And also commented on how similar my mom and I look/act. Also, there is another therapist who is about 23 named Rob. All I will say is that I am coming back next time.

Tonight, we are going to te drive-in to see Night at the Museum 2 and Star Trek with the Burtons. How I love Captain Kirk a.k.a. Captain Sexy Beast!! (hehe, Margo, Amanda, and Megan)

My mom is having some lady come over to cut her hair, so I gotta go spruce up a little. My hair looks like crap and she'll be over in 15 minutes. Oh well.

You know you love me,
Megan Elizabeth

Drive-In

I'm super excited, because this Saturday I am finally going to the drive-in. The movies could not be more perfect. They are Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, which looks dorky but funny and I have been wanting to see it, and Star Trek, the best movie of, I don't know, EVER. And also, the Burtons are coming, which should be fun. We're getting there early, so maybe the three (four if you count Cooper, the little one) boys can teach me how to throw a football or something. Lol. They probably won't stay for the second movie, cuz it's kinda late for the Coop and even Ben (the middle on who is one year younger than me). Plus, they (Ben and Cooper) might be scared by Star Trek. Well, just wanted to stop by and share my excitement with you.

Oh! I almost forgot. My little brother got a girlfriend! I'm so happy for him, especially because he really likes this girl. They talked on the phone for a while, and he seems to be happy. But I'm also kinda like, hey. what the heck?!? My kid brother has his first girlfriend in the 5th grade, I'm in the 7th, and I haven't had a boyfriend? Really? Oh well. I'm not really all that concerned about it, but...I mean, I seem likeable, right? I know I am. There must be something wrong with boys these days. It's not like I'm not friends with boys. It's not like they don't like me. They just don't *like* me. Which is just fine with my dad. Actually, that isn't completely true. There is one boy. But. That is not my business to tell to the world. I hope you appreciate that, kid.

Cleanin' His Gun

Ah, don't you just love country music? No? Well, neither do I. Most of the time. I have, however, found a few songs that I like, one being "Cleaning His Gun". It's about a girl's first date and what her dad said. I kind of imagine my dad being the same way. The song goes a lil' sumthin like this:

Come on in, boy
Sit on down
And tell me 'bout yourself
Well, you like my daughter
Do you now?
Yeah, we think she's somethin' else
She's her daddy's girl
Her momma's world
She deserves respect
That's what she'll get
Ain't it son?
Hey, y'all run along and have some fun
Bet I'll be up all night
Still cleanin' this gun

Well now I'm a father
I'm scared to death one day my daughter
Is gonna find
That teenage boy I used to be
That seems to have one thing on his mind

She's growin up so fast
It won't be long before
I'll have to put the fear of God
Into some kid at the door

Son, now y'all buckle up and have her back by te- let's say about nine...thirty. Drive safe.

I absolutely love this song! I can just see my dad doing this. For that matter, I can also see Ronnie and Stephen doing this. I wouldn't probably be embarassed, just cracking up. Lol. Just thought I'de share these lyrics with you at 12:11. No sir, not in the afternoon. I'm tired. Goodnight!

P.S. More on my day tomarrow.

I'm baaack.....(and better than ever!)

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I have to update you on soo m ch stuff, so I dilly, dally, or anything of that nature. First of all, my Algebra exam, for which I spent hours studying for, was a flop. Not much of the stuff on t he study guide was actually on the test. A lot of it was multipling trinomial fractions and changing the general to the vertex and stuff. There was about one question on probability. UGH. And there wasn't enough time, so I had to randomly fill in some bubbles. I'm really disappointed, not in myself, because I really did learn the stuff, but just disappointed that it isn't going to be reflected in my grade. This probably also means that I will not be accepted into 8 Honors, because they take the 90 students with the highest grade point average, and the C I will undoubtedly get will really bring that down. This is totally unfair, though, because 8 Honors is only science, english, and history (a.k.a. my best subjects). I hate that my placement, or lack there of, in honors is affected by my grade in math. It just doesn't seem right. I mean, english, was so incredibly easy this year, and I want tot learn! Walnut is a fabulous school (36th in the nation), and I want to get every drop of eduaction out of it. Even though I personally know many fine students who are really smart, talented, ect. that were not in 8 Honors, I really want to be in it. My mother said that she would be willing to talk to our councilor about it if I didn't get in, mostly for the reasons I have already listed. I'm really worried, however, that even my mom's persuasive powers will not be enough this time. I am trying to stop worrying, because.......................................

It's summer!!!!!

Today was my last day of school. Whatever happens next year, there is nothing more I can do about it now. Relax, kick back, and lounge around all day. At least for the first week, while Lauren is still in school. I need to make a list of stuff I want to do this summer. Let's start now!

  1. Become a pro at Wake Nation, a new watersports complex that is very cool.
  2. Throw the b-day bash of the year!
  3. Visit Coney Island frequently.
  4. Convince parents to let me invite friends down to Norris for a week, in addition to our family week-long trip.
  5. Clarify something with a certain someone whos' name I will not at this point in time reveal.
  6. Visit the drive-in.
  7. Clean my room (for those of you who haven't seen my room, you wouldn't think that this would be a long term goal; believe me, it is)
  8. Go horseback riding.
  9. Build a tree house.
  10. Read Wuthering Hights, The Chosen One, Max, and The Last Olympian.
  11. Visit the Freedom Center.
  12. Find family to babysit.

That's all I have for now, but I'm sure I will think of more.

Fun thing to look forward to: Sophie's birthday party! The sad thing is, it's on MY birthday (June 6). It's also the date of Tessa's wedding. So my own birthday will be filled with celebrating others. That's alrght though. Especially becase Sophie's bithday will be super fun. I know for sure that Barghav, Luke, John, Catrina, Chase, Gabby, and me are coming. Oh, and also Claire. Fun assortment of people; should be a blast! Now...what should I get her? Better Question: What should I ask for for my birthday?? My mom is getting me Bare Minerals (yay x 10!!), and I may ask my dad to get my necklace that a got for my Golden Birthday (when I was 6) cleaned. But what can my friends get me? Hmm, I shall ponder this in my heart.

Book you should never read: Gossip Girl. Don't ask why, just don't read it. The show is cool, though (;

This post has gotten long enough, so ima leave now. OH! Wait! I totally forgot t orant about Christ Allen winning American Idol. This is the biggest upset in the history of the show (yes, even more than Awful Aiken and Ruben Retard). ADAM DESERVED IT. Chris even said that. Now, when the winner doesn't believe that he/she disn't deserve to win, something is wrong. I'll tell you what's wrong: the fact that Adam didn't win. I had jokingly said, "Watch Chris win. *snicker*". But I never really believed he would. He won over Allison, Danny, and Adam?! No way. He was a great singer. But so were the other three. I'm thinking his rendition of Heartless might have tipped the scale, becauase it showed his versatility, more than Apologize, his judges' pick. Come on, Cara and Dawg, what were you thinking? Terrible song choice; I agree with Simon 100%. Which brings me to another horror: Simon Cowell is leaving American Idol after next year. I won't watch it fter that. Simon is the funniest judge, and aso the only one whos' opinion matters one speck. Randy, eh. Too much "for me for you"-ing. Just say what you think already! Cara acts like she knows everything and moves her head around too much. Also, she says "artistry" so much that it makes me want to shoot myself. Paula, do not get me started on her. The only thing she adds to the show is time. Her outfits are horrible, her comments nonsensical, her flitation with Simon oh-so-6th grade. Alright, enough complaining for one (very long) post. Thanks for reading and come again.

You know you love me,

Megan

SNL

I just watched this really super funny SNL that my brother showed me. I had heard great reviews even before I watched it, and I was not disappointed. Justin Timberlake is hilarious as a plastic surg, with Will Forte as a gym trainer. They're competing for business, so JT makes songs like "Poker Face" and "Boom Boom Pow" into themes of plastic surgery. Omigod, it's hilarious! Other to-die-for SNL vids are:
1. Jizzed in my Pants (LOL)
2. United Way (my favorite)
3. Cookie
4. Laser Cats.
So many ridiculously imature videos, so little time.

My Saturday

Today was disconnected. The parts didn't fit together. In the morning, I was freaking out because I couldn't find my project sheet. But then I figured it out, so it was ok. I worked onit for a minute, but then Lauren called, so I went over to her house. Turns out, Lily (Lauren's foreign exchange student who left earlier this morning) left me a few things. Isn't that sooo nice? I got chopsticks, a really cool fancy bottle opener (for all the times I need to open a beer), and an awesome Chinese kite ("no fly" Lily said). Then I came home and worked on my project some more, but Lauren called again and we went shopping. I got some makeup from Victoria's Secret with the money my dad gave me, but I felt guilty because it was expensive so I returned it like five minutes later. I decided instead to spend it on thes funky teal sunglasses, whick I needed, and a caramel frap from Starbucks. Ah, money well spent. Later on, Megan and Jenny came over and made us dinner. They hung out for a while, and left about 10:15ish. Now it's 11:30, so I should probably at leaast go to my room and read.

We aren't going to church tomarrow. I couldn't decide which one to try, and my mom wasn't so enthusiastic about it with her leg. So, we will not be churchgoers tomarrow. Instead, I plan to read my Bible. Who knows, I may post a few Bible verses on here if I get inspired! hah. Maybe I will send some emails on the Wii. Yes m'am/sir, you heard me right. I, the technologically impaired, am totally geeking out about this cool thing on the Wii!! You can send emails and trade Miis with people whilst you get your dorky video game fix. Ah, technology. Can't live without it, can't use it without breaking it. Such a fickle thing it is.

Spiderman!

Just took a personality quiz..turns out I'm most like Spiderman!! Yes!! Lol. In order from most to least, here are my kindred spirits: Spidy, Superman, Supergirl, The Flash, Wonderwoman, Batman, Robin. Yeah!

End of Your Rope

So I was just listening to a song called Love by Sugarland, and there was a line about love being at the end of your rope. And it made me think of this.

Maybe when people get to the end of their rope, so to speak, I think there's a net, or something, of God's love, just waiting for us. But your feet can't feel it, and you have to trust enough to let go. Maybe being at the end of your rope isn't such a bad place to be. Maybe it's where you grow the most. This was just a random thought that ran through my head.
God Bless,
Meggie

Cinco de Mayo

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
But really...who wants to celebrate May the 5th...the Mexicans, apparently! Partaaay!
My beloved mother celebrated this fiesta of a day by getting surgery. Yay! Just kidding. Well, not about the surgery, about the 'yay'. She really did get surgery. On her ACL, MCL, and meniscus (or however you spell that word). As we speak, she is laying on the couch. She's kind of a mess. Extra tired, her leg hurts, not hungry. I feel bad for her. Since they went ahead with the second surgery, her leg is non-weight baring for up to 3 months. Yeah, you heard me. We will def be relying on the charity of others for a while, lol. Happy Cinco de Mayo to Mommy!!!!!
Dude, I soo wish I could party it up today. Let loose, have a margarita. Jk jk jk. But I really feel like going crazy, school has been one big ball of stress. Not to whine or anything, but AHHHH! I might just go insane in the membrane.
Ok, you guys have heard of Obsessed, riiight?? I SOOOO want to see that movie. It looks really good. Beyonce kicking white girl a** (sorry, Mother. Revised: white girl butt)? Ooooh yeah! Lol, I'm not black by the way. I just happen to LOVE Beyonce (a.k.a. Queen B get it? get it? lol) Alrighty then, it's time to get crackalackin' on my homework, yo dizzles. Don't ask.
Happy Cinco!!!!!!!!!,
Megan Elizabeth
P.S. I feel like doing something super crazy..if only I could think of something super crazy to do...

The rest of my Report(Except the Conclusion)

Eleanor’s life started off auspiciously. In the happy year of 1122, she was born in Bordeaux, France to William X, duke of Aquitaine and Count of Poitou, and Aénor of Châtellerault. Her mother died when she was eight years old, leaving the task of raising her to her grandmother and ladies-in-waiting. Creative, sarcastic, and full of fun, they found her a handful. She and her sister Petronilla passed the time by mimicking the various nobles that visited their father. She also studied both Latin and her own Provençal dialect.
Tragedy struck when her father died of illness in 1137. She was 15 years old. The moment William X closed his eyes for the last time, Eleanor inherited his title and lands, making her the most eligible bachelorette in Europe. Her father, knowing his death was imminent, had sent this message to Louis VI, King of France, better known as Louis the Fat:
“Please keep Eleanor and her inheritance safe, and find her a suitable husband to rule over Aquitaine.” Louis was more than happy to oblige, and quickly married her to his son, Louis VIII on July 25, 1137 in the cathedral of Saint André at Bordeaux. His son had been training as a monk all of his life, because his older brother was to be king. When his brother died, Louis VIII was dragged out of the monestary and quickly prepared to rule. All of this was far beyond his own control. Through this, the king gained control of Eleanor’s land. Still age 15, she was the wealthiest person, man or women, to own land in Europe, and also wife to the heir of the French king. Less than a month after her marriage, the king died. The young couple rushed to Paris and were crowned king and queen.
Eleanor had many new responsibilities and difficulties. As queen, she was expected to produce a male heir to the throne. Her first child, however, was a girl: Marie of Champagne. This was, undoubtedly, a frustration. There were even more upsetting things to come. She attempted to help Louis run the country, but one man prohibited her from doing that. Abbot Sugar, a key political advisor to the late king, manipulated Louis. The two differed in their view of most things, and Louis generally went with Sugar’s wishes. When it came time for the Second Crusade, Eleanor was more than willing to escape from her everyday life. She leaped into action, collecting money and recruiting soldiers, even convincing a sizable group of noblewomen to accompany her. Because of her vigor, more knights came from Aquitaine than any other city. 100,000 men and women left for Jerusalem in June of 1147. It was a hard journey, and finally they took a break in Antioch under the protection of Louis’ younger uncle, Raymond of Poitiers. Eleanor so much enjoyed Raymond’s company that rumors began to circulate of her having an affair. Louis apparently suspecting this as well, and it broke their relationship. Hating to be mistrusted, she demanded a divorce. He refused, and went a step further by dragging her forcefully to Jerusalem. In a last-ditch attempt to save their relationship, Eleanor produced another child, a girl. This caused even more hostility, because she had failed yet again to produce an heir. It ended at last when the pope agreed to annul their marriage, on account of consanguinity.
Eleanor and Henry Plantagnet met in August of 1154. He was 18, she was 25. A mere two months later, they were married. Three years later, she was the queen of France. Together, they controlled the whole of West France. Her marriage was a happy one, and together they had many children. Several achievements were accomplished during her reign as queen. She introduced the French wine industry to England, built docks called Queenhithe, and introduced a system of collecting money called “the Queen’s gold”. No other queen had or has since used the system of the Queen’s gold. Eleanor set up one of “the most famous and influencial cultural centers in 12-century Europe”. Her time was filled with acting as regent for Henry whenever he was gone, which was frequent, and governing Aquitaine and Poitou (she was their feudal lord).
Over time, Henry and Eleanor drifted farther and farther apart. He began to limit her governing power, and to have an open affair with Rosamund Clifford. Richard and Geoffrey, arguably her favorite sons, rebelled against their father with her full moral and military support. Henry decided to give her a choice: to retire into a nunnery or to go into house arrest. Refusing to spend her life as a nun, she was locked in Salisbury Castle for 15 years. At Christmas, she was allowed a family visit. Other than that, she had little to no contact with the outside world. In 1189, Henry died, she was released at age 67. She bounced back in to action, becoming regent for her son Richard when he left for the Third Crusade, who “issued instructions to the princess of the realm, almost in the style of a general edict, that the queen’s word should be law in all matters.” She transacted court and financial business, freed all unfairly imprisoned English people, and arranged Richard’s marriage to Berengaria of Navarre. She formed a dynasty throughout Europe by marrying her daughters to kings and dukes. When Richard went to France, Eleanor accompanied him. Finally able to relax, she retired to an abbey for widows and abused wives of powerful men that she had supported her whole life, called Fontevrault. But fate would not have it. Richard was wounded in battle, and died in her arms 1199. With no time to greive, Eleanor began touring Europe, gaining support for her son John, who’s succession was challenged by his cousin, Count of Brittany. He was crowned king on May 27, 1199. Then she was forced to defend Aquitaine against her grandson who wanted it for France. She won, with the help of John. At long last, she retired again to Fontevrault, where she died peacefully two years later at age 82.

Eleanor of Aquitaine

Right now, I'm working on my history paper about Eleanor of Aquitaine. It's due on Tuesdday, and I have the outline done. I still need to write the actual report and bibliography. Don't worry, I'm a relatively fast repor-writer. I'm going to keep you updated throughout this process, and you can give me feedback on my report. Below you will find the introduction; feel free to add comments or suggestion! Thanks!

Eleanor of Aquitaine was one of the most influential women of medieval times. At different points in her life, she ruled both England and France, prominent countries in Europe then and now. She visited all of the major cities of her time, in a world where travel meant riding horses, sailing, or walking. The Duchess of Aquitaine, Countess of Poitou, Queen of England and France, Eleanor had many formal titles. While few may remember her names, few will forget her vibrant personality, striking looks, and assertive political style; nor should they. Eleanor of Aquitaine is as important in modern times as she was in the past. Even today, women are considered inferior to men in many aspects of life. Examples of strong women from history are needed to remind the world of the things that women have, can, and will do.

All the Single Ladies!

"Blessed are the single-hearted, for they shall enjoy much peace. If you refuse to be hurried and pressed, if you stay your soul on God, nothing can keep you from that clearness of spirit which is life and peace. In that stillness you will know what His will is."

Chinese Exchange Student and The Dance

What up. Lauren has a Chinese exchange student, named Lily, staying with her. Her real name, of course, is more like...well, I forget, I will ask her again tomarrow. She is super nice, I totally heart her. But here's the thing: Lily can't, well, she isn't exactly fluent in English. So much so that trying to talk to her is like trying to get my brother to get off his butt during a Fairly Odd Parents marathon. For those of you that don't know my brother, that is close to impossible. She is really pretty/nice, though. And laughter is, after all, a universal language, and we have definately conversed in that way while jumping on the trampoline, which she loves. Overall, it's cool having someone from half way around the world right next door.

Tonight is the dance!!! YAY! I will be uploading/downloading/somehow loading a pic of me and my dress on to the blog soon. But I have to go get ready now, so farewell, loyal blog-readers!
