Many rumors have been floating around, and, as your go-to-gossip-guru, I would like to clear them up. This is the story according to DailyMail.com: "Detectives said earlier they urgently wanted to speak to a physician, later identified as Dr Conrad Robert Murray, who allegedly injected the star with painkiller shortly before he collapsed and died. Jackson's family today revealed the 50-year-old had been having daily injections of Demerol, a synthetic pain-killing drug similar to morphine. It has emerged this evening that Dr Murray was the only person with the singer at the time of his collapse. A statement from the LA coroner today said: 'We will not and cannot determine cause of death at this time.'A close relative told TMZ.com, the website that first broke the news of the singer's death, he was injected at 11:30am shortly before having a catastrophic heart attack. TMZ this evening named the doctor as Dr. Murray after 11 News in Texas reported that a car belonging to the physician's sister had been towed away from the house. Jackson's long-term physician Dr. Tohme Tohme today denied he had delivered the fatal injection and told the New York Post he was not at the singer's home when he collapsed. Dr. Tohme, who appeared at the UCLA hospital for a press conference earlier, told the newspaper: 'It's not me. I wasn't there at the house when this took place.''I am his manager and I feel lost. I loved Michael and I was his friend. I was handling all his affairs,' he said in a phone interview. A spokesman for the Los Angeles Police department earlier confirmed officers were searching for a doctor who had been at the house when the singer collapsed. He said: 'We are looking for him because that is a normal part of an investigation like this. We cannot confirm the name of the doctor.'The revelation came after the Jackson's family lawyer blamed his sudden death on his inner circle pushing him too hard in the run-up to a series of comeback gigs in Britain. This was despite revelations in a book last December that the singer was suffering from a chronic lung condition and had just six months to live. Brian Oxman said the Jacksons believed Michael was addicted to painkillers and prescription drugs and were concerned about the 'stress' he was under ahead of the gruelling concerts in London. The lawyer, who was with the family overnight, said the singer had been taking drugs for months in his battle to be fit for the string of gigs that had been due to start next month."
According to TMZ.com: "On the subject of Michael Jackson taking too many prescription drugs...We went back to our files and found a 2007 lawsuit against Jackson for allegedly not paying a pharmacy bill -- grand total: $101,926.66. Mickey Fine Pharmacy in Beverly Hills sued Jackson, claiming he agreed to 'pay the purchase price of any prescription medications filled.' The case was dismissed a month after it was filed -- that typically means there was a settlement."
During his lifetime, he had many, many health issues. Scalp surgery (which resulted in an addiction to painkillers), plastic surgury (rhinoplasty and a chin implant), vitiligo, chest pains, recuring back pain, low blood pressure, broken vertebrae and leg...and those are just the confirmed facts! It has also been rumored that MJ suffered from skin cancer and was in need of a lung transplant because of Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. What I take from this is that no one can have everything, even if they appear to. While Michael is a legend, his personal life was a mess. His sister has told the media that his mother called him a "d**n f****t" (however, his sister has not been known to be the most relieable source. He died in severe debt, estimated to be up to $400 million dollars.
As I type this, I am imagining an older me, reading through these posts, and coming across this one. "Hello, Older Me!" I want to say. "Do you remember that weird feeling that you had, knowing that a legend was dead? It was so odd!" Also, Older Me might want to know what date it was that he died. Well, it was June 25, 2009. He was 50 years old.
Since I don't wish to speak ill of the dead, I have decided not to include the low points in dear Michael's career (it is also why I chose not to include a more recent picture of Jackson). Instead, you will find upon looking under this sentence a collection of quotes concerning his career, life, and legacy.
"We have all been blessed to witness a true light, a wonderful talent...no words can describe his talent, generosity, advocacy, and love for the world. He gave us a piece of his soul and dedicated his life to entertain us."-will.i.am.
"My heart...my mind...are broken. I loved Michael with all my soul and I can't imagine life without him. We had so much in common and we had so much loving fun together. I was packing up my clothes to go to London for his opening when I heard the news. I still can't believe it. I don't want to believe it. It can't be so."-Elizabeth Taylor
"We are out of our joy. He is out of his pain....he was constantly challenged by the press and all he really wanted to be was the greatest entertainer and he was that."-Rev. Jesse Jackson
Among his public mourners are Usher, John Mayer, Celine Dion, Beyonce Knowles, Akon, Kenny Ortega, Ne-Yo, Diana Ross, R. Kelly, Fergie, Mariah Carey, and Carole Bayer Sager, who said, "I saw [Michael Jackson] in a totally different light--as a nurturing and caring father." . The entire music world is in mourning, if not the entire world. The biggest icon of my lifetime is gone in body, but I get the feeling that he will not be forgotten. For more information check out MTV. All day they have been playing MJ music videos, movies, and performances. Statements have been pouring in from across the country, and they are played across the bottom of the screen.
Moment of silence for the loss of Michael. Or, you could listen to Thriller. Better yet, get up and do the dance! C'mon, you know you know it! How could anyone forget it??
You know you love Michael Jackson,
Megan Elizabeth Roberts
